COME LEARN AND GROW WITH COACH verspohl!
OUR FOCUS:
The physical education program is centered on the idea that students should engage in lifelong physical activity for both their physical and mental well-being. Students will be provided with developmentally-appropriate activities that enhance their physical, cognitive, and personal-social skills in order to remain physically active throughout their lifetime. The physical education curriculum is an important part of a student’s education. Our curriculum displays the importance of teamwork through both movement-centered and knowledge-based activities and games.
The physical education curriculum also provides a nourishing environment where kids feel safe and supported regardless of skill level. Students with exceptionalities are accommodated for through modifications to allow for maximum participation.

sOME OF MY THOUGHTS ON EDUCATION:
"They may forget what you said, but they will never forget the way you made them feel"
"Kids don't care what you know until they know you care"
"No significant learning can occur without a significant relationship"
"They don't pay me to like the kids, they pay me to teach a lesson... I said to her... "Kid's don't learn from someone they don't like!"
Q.What can you do to help build relationships?
A: Something I do is constantly ask direct questions about goals, dreams, friends, hobbies, etc. to connect with them and then I bring it up later. It shows I listen and value them.
Q.What's an unexpected time to connect with students?
A: Recess! It's my favorite. I call it "networking hour" I can ask questions, free play, and be silly outside of the classroom.
Q. How do I raise self esteem and academics?
A. "I tell my students they were chosen to be in my class. they were hand selected! because I'm the best teacher, and you're the best students. they put us together so we can show everyone how we do it. when we walk.. we STRUT! I told them they were somebody, and they believed it."- Rita
-You might not love every single student, but they must never ever know it.
Q. What are different things you can do to create relationship within your class?
A. Positive reinforcement is great! I always kept a treasure box and my students would work so hard for that! but not everyone responds to that. so I kept "jeans passes", Erasers, candy, I gave out forms that got sent home for praise, I would personally brag on them in the car line, verbal praise both public and private, and extra credit!
I also started keeping snacks and hair ties in my desk for students who needed it. It's hard to focus on a lesson when their basic need isn't met.
